Abstract:

Pathogen in environment and food is a serious threat to human life and health. Rapid and accurate detection methods are the keys to the effective prevention and control of the epidemic. At present, clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat-associated protein(Cas)13 system has been widely used in the detection of pathogens due to its "attached shear" property. It has been developed as a novel nucleic acid detection tool with high sensitivity, strong specificity, low cost, rapid and convenient, which opens a new era of molecular diagnosis. In this review, the characteristics and molecular mechanism of CRISPR/Cas13 system are introduced, the research progress of CRISPR/Cas13 technology in the detection of pathogens is comprehensively reviewed, and the future development and application prospect of CRISPR/Cas13 system are prospected.
