Abstract:

Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of PFTAIRE protein kinase 1(PFTK1) and microvessel density(MVD) and postoperative prognosis in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) patients. Methods A total of 88 NSCLC patients who underwent surgical treatment at Henan Nanyang Central Hospital from January 2013 to January 2015 were enrolled. Cancer tissues and adjacent tissues(>2 cm from tumor edges) were collected, and PFTK1 expression and MVD count were determined. Spearman correlation analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between PFTK1 expression and MVD count. Kaplan-Meier survival curve and Log rank χ2 test were used to analyze the survival status of NSCLC patients. Multivariate Cox regression analysis was used to evaluate the risk factors for prognosis(death) in NSCLC patients. Results Among the 88 NSCLC patients, the total positive rate of PFTK1 was 70.45%(62/88). There was statistical significance in PFTK1 positive rate and MVD count among NSCLC patients with different TNM stages, tumor diameters and lymph node metastasis(P<0.001,P<0.05),while there was no statistical significance in PFTK1 positive rate and MVD count among NSCLC patients with different sex, ages, pathological classification and histological grading(P>0.05). MVD count in PFTK1 positive group was higher than that in PFTK1 negative group(P<0.05). Spearman correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between PFTK1 expression and MVD count(r=0.952,P<0.001). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that TNM stage Ⅲ,lymph node metastasis, tumor diameter >3 cm and PFTK1 positivity were independent risk factors for prognosis(death) in NSCLC patients(P<0.05). Conclusions PFTK1 is highly expressed in cancer tissues of NSCLC patients, and it is closely related to MVD count and patient prognosis.
