Abstract: Objective To study the abnormality and influence factors of alanine aminotransferase(ALT) in the fresh students from some universities of Gansu province 2008-2010 year, and to investigate the prevention from hepatitis in universities.   Methods A total of 6 852 fresh students were enrolled for physical examination in some universities of Gansu province 2008-2010 year. The serum ALT levels and influence factors were analyzed.  Results The positive rate of ALT in 6 852 fresh students was 2.30%,and there was no statistical significance between male and female students(P>0.05). The positive rate of hepatitis surface antigen(HBsAg) was 3.40%,and there were statistical significances between male and female students(P<0.05). Among the influence factors for ALT abnormality, the positivity of HBsAg was the highest, accounted for 19.74%,and fatty liver(18.47%) and tiredness(17.83%). The number of males with fatty liver was more than that of females slightly with no statistical significance(P>0.05),however,tiredness in females accounted markedly higher than that in males(P<0.05). The results of multivariate unconditioned Logistic regression analysis showed that the influence factors for ALT abnormality included virus infection, fatty liver, tiredness, family genetic history, oral nutriments and taking other medicines.  Conclusions The positive rate of HBsAg in fresh students from some universities of Gansu province is lower than that of other same aged population through whole country. The students with ALT abnormality could be cured by changing living habits combined with medicine treatment.
