Abstract:

Objective To investigate the roles of serum diamine oxidase,D-lactic acid and endotoxin in the assessment of intestinal barrier injury in patients with schizophrenia. Methods A total of 296 schizophrenia patients and 99 healthy subjects were enrolled, and serum diamine oxidase,D-lactic acid and endotoxin levels were determined. The 296 schizophrenia patients were classified according to ages(≤51-year-old and >51-year-old groups) and sex. Results The levels of serum diamine oxidase,D-lactic acid and endotoxin in schizophrenia group were higher than those in healthy control group(P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in serum diamine oxidase,D-lactic acid and endotoxin between ≤51-year-old and >51-year-old groups and between males and females(P>0.05). Conclusions Serum diamine oxidase,D-lactic acid and endotoxin can be used to assess the intestinal barrier function in patients with schizophrenia.
