Abstract:

Objective To investigate the stability of routine urine dry chemical method in 24 h. Methods A total of 318 fresh urine specimens were collected. The specimens were determined immediately after collection, and the results were named as the results of 0 h. The specimens were determined after collection for 2,4,6 and 24 h,under room temperature(25± 2)℃ and 4 ℃,respectively. The pH value, specific gravity(SG),leukocyte(LEU),erythrocyte(ERY),nitrite(NIT),protein(PRO),glucose(Glu),bilirubin(Bil),urobilinogen(URO) and ketone body(KET) were determined. Results Compared with the results of 0 h,the results of LEU and ERY of 4 h at room temperature had statistical significance(P<0.05). The changes of LEU and ERY of 6 h at 4 ℃ had statistical significance(P<0.05),but there was no statistical significance for other parameters within 24 h at either room temperature or 4 ℃(P>0.05). Conclusions The stabilities of urine dry chemical method for different parameters within 24 h are different. The urine specimens should be determined within 2 h at room temperature,or within 4 h at 4 ℃. Some urine specimens from patients with special diseases should be determined as soon as possible,to ensure stability and accuracy.
