GeneXpert MTB/RIF system in the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis

Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the significance of GeneXpert MTB/RIF system in the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods A total of 99 sputum samples from suspected pulmonary tuberculosis patients were collected,and the samples were determined by acid fast staining,Mycobacterium tuberculosis（MTB） culture and GeneXpert MTB/RIF system. Results The positive rates of GeneXpert MTB/RIF system,MTB culture and acid fast staining were 29.6%,25.7% and 20.2% in all suspected pulmonary tuberculosis patients. The positive rates of GeneXpert MTB/RIF system,MTB culture and acid fast staining were 100.0%,100.0% and 80.0% in confirmed cases. Conclusions GeneXpert MTB/RIF system is of significance in the diagnosis and treatment efficiency evaluation of pulmonary tuberculosis.
