Expressions of IL-26 in decidua from recurrent spontaneous abortion patients

Objective To evaluate the role of interleukin 26（IL-26） in decidua from recurrent spontaneous abortion（RSA） patients. Methods The expressions of IL-26 and its receptors（IL-10R2 and IL-20R1） were determined by immunohistochemistry in 15 healthy pregnant women and 18 RSA patients. The secretion status of IL-26 in decidual stromal cells between the 2 groups was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay（ELISA）. The decidual stromal cells of healthy pregnant women were stimulated with recombinant human IL-26 protein（1,10 and 100 ng/mL）,and then cell proliferation was determined after 24,48 and 72 h. Results The expressions of IL-26,IL-10R2 and IL-20R1 in RSA patients' decidual tissues were higher than those in healthy pregnant women（P<0.05）. The level of IL-26 secreted by decidual stromal cells in RSA patients was higher than that in healthy pregnant women（P<0.05）. The proliferation of decidual stromal cells was promoted by IL-26 at the levels of 1 and 10 ng/mL,but it was inhibited at the level of 100 ng/mL. Conclusions The overexpression of IL-26 may restrain the proliferation of decidual stromal cells and be associated with RSA.
